Much to our total surprise the experience really is an experience, the most magical experience of all for Penguin fans, you can walk with them, yes that is right, you can walk WITH them. And during the boat ride you get the chance to purchase some fish so you can feed these lovely animals that have joined you, just watch out for Gulls.Īs we are a family of Penguin fans we headed straight over to the Penguins after we disembarked from the boat trip. As you start your journey on the boat you instantly become very away that you are not alone…far from it…you are joined by many sea lions on your journey swimming along side you ‘singing’ for their supper. We headed straight for the boat trip, we didn’t have to wait too long before we were on board and setting sail to see the Gorillas. We went during the second week of October, with all the children being in school during this time it was fairly quiet which was really lovely, especially with an almost 3 year old that wants to press his nose up against the glass on everything. Once you have finished on the Safari you can go and park the car and take a wander around the Adventure Park, and we still had lots of animal adventures still waiting for us. We also managed to catch glimpses of the Lions, Tigers and Cheetah along with many other animals. You can see so many amazing animals up close, the camels sauntered past in front of the car much to our delight. You can by-pass this part of the Safari but we had been pre-warned and as you know we had removed the radio aerial from the car already! These animals are simply amazing and even now little man still talks about the Monkeys on the car. Now we know where the saying ‘cheeky little monkey’ comes from. This is the spot where you can feed the giraffes (except the day when we went, they were not doing feeding times), from the pictures we saw that you could feed the giraffes by hand which would have been amazing.Īfter this first stop we got back in the car and were on our way, this is the part where you now need to stay in the car!! Especially for the Monkeys round two. What a fantastic idea, we learnt so much more and could explain things to little man as we went round in a way that he would understand too.įirst stop, Giraffes, Zebra, The Wallaby Walk and the Monkeys (round one). This is only the second time we have done this type of day out with little man, the first time he was 18 months old and we were in Tenerife, now he is almost 3 and knows almost all the animals we were all very excited.Īnother brilliant surprise, when we got to the entrance of the Safari we were handed a CD that we could listen to all the way around, commentating on what we were seeing and about to see on our journey. The drive down to the Safari Park once you are in the gates is breath taking, the house and the grounds are beautiful and are so well maintained.Īfter a very brief stop at the car park to remove the radio aerial off the car (more on the reasons for that later) we decided we would head straight on Safari. We got to the Safari Park about 30 minutes after opening time, we were pleasantly surprised to find not many cars in the queue to get in, and as we had pre booked our tickets online before we went it meant we didn’t have to wait too long before we were on our way in to see all the lovely animals. Longleat Safari Park is quite simply the best family day out. It was the best decision we could have made to finish our little break. Very recently we took a trip to Center Parcs at Longleat Forest, I will do a separate post about that another day, on our last day in Longleat we decided to spend a day at Longleat Safari Park.
